Archie Williams from Louisiana spent 37 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. He was arrested in 1983, sentenced to life and sent to Angola, a prison known as one of the toughest in the United States.
He said he went to prison but never let his mind go to prison. To find peace, he prayed and sang. With help from the Innocence Project, new fingerprint technology proved his innocence, and he was released in March 2019. 🙏
Archie used to watch America’s Got Talent from prison and picture himself on that stage. Now he was there, singing Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me with a voice full of feeling as the audience cheered.
Heidi said it really touched her, and Howie said that even after 37 years it had not broken him. Simon called it an audition he would never forget, and Archie walked off with yes after yes. ❤️
