Michael Grimm from Waveland, Mississippi won America’s Got Talent in 2010. He used his win to build his grandparents a new home after they lost theirs in Hurricane Katrina, and he asked his girlfriend to marry him.
Returning for AGT: The Champions, he admitted that fame hit him like a freight train. As a shy person he found it scary, so he stepped back and let it pass him by. This time he called it his second chance.
Then he sang “I’d Rather Go Blind,” and his raspy, soulful voice filled the room. He poured everything into the blues classic as the audience applauded him on. 🎶
It was a reminder of why America fell for him in the first place. The champion who once walked away from the spotlight came back with the same big heart. ❤️
