Melanie Amaro was 18 and a college freshman from Sunrise, Florida, when she walked onto The X Factor USA stage. Her family had come to support her, and she said she did not want to let any of them down.
When the judges asked if she was any good, she smiled and said she would let them decide. Then she began to sing Listen by Beyoncé 🎤.
Her voice was powerful and full of soul, and the arena fell silent before erupting into cheers.
Nicole told her she had the gift, the soul, the spirit and the X Factor. Paula said she had never heard anything like it in any audition. Then Simon explained that when people asked why he was bringing the show to America, it was because he hoped to find someone like her, and said she had made it all worthwhile. Melanie left the stage with a whole panel of believers 💙.
