Gangstagrass walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage as a band that sees itself as a family. The members come from very different parts of the country, from Omaha, Nebraska to Brooklyn to Pensacola, Florida, and they met almost 11 years ago. Music brought them together, and they have been playing side by side ever since.
Four of them are dads, and they said they want to leave the world better for their kids. The founder explained that he built the band to use American music to show people they have common ground. Pointing at his bandmates, he told the judges these men are his brothers and his family.
Then they played their original song, “Bound to Ride” 🎶, mixing banjo, fiddle and country sounds with rap. The energy grew with every verse, and the judges were clearly enjoying it.
Heidi said she loved the message and the music and was bopping along the whole time. Simon called it a really good audition, pointed out that an original song makes a huge difference and said this was one they would remember. The band left with four yeses ❤️.
