John Lennon’s son Julian sings ‘Imagine’ for ‘the first time ever’ in support of refugees from Ukraine

Julian Lennon, John Lennon’s son, swore he would never sing “Imagine,” his father’s famous peace song. He said he would only play it if the world ended, but the artist thought everyone should hear his dad’s words.

But because of the war in Ukraine, the 59-year-old felt forced to sing the song in public as part of a fundraiser for 2022 Global Citizen’s Stand Up for Ukraine.

Even though Julian’s version was simple, it was just as powerful as his dad’s 1971 version.

Julian wrote that he had to “respond in the most significant way I could” because of the “unimaginable tragedy” in Ukraine.

“The song shows the hope we all have for the light at the end of the tunnel,” he wrote. “Millions of innocent families have been forced to leave the safety of their homes to find safety elsewhere because of the ongoing murderous violence.”

Since the war began at the end of February, more than 4.5 million people have left Ukraine.

Deadline says that more than $10 billion was promised to help Ukrainian refugees at the Global Citizen fundraiser that Julian played for.

Half of the gifts came from governments, businesses, and people all over the world. The other half came from grants and loans from public European financial institutions.

Julian, the son of John Lennon and his first wife Cynthia Lennon, asked everyone to help people all over the world who are looking for a better life, not just those fleeing Ukraine.

“IMAGINE leaders and everyone else who agrees with its message should stand up for refugees everywhere!” Please speak out and give from the heart.

Just beautiful. I’m at a loss for words to describe Julian’s story and his call to help people who have fled the war in Ukraine.

Please share Julian Lennon’s version of “Imagine” to help bring peace and understanding to everyone in the world.
