Elton John is recovering bit by bit from a medical issue.
On September 4, 2024, Elton John revealed that a recent health problem had left him with limited eyesight in one eye. Reactions were swift, with people expressing their love and best wishes for a rapid recovery.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” the “Rocket Man” frontman wrote.
John went on to state that while he is healing, it is a very gradual process and that the injured eye will require some time to fully recover its vision.
“I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks,” he said in appreciation of everyone who had helped him.
The singer is happy with his current level of recovery and has been sleeping soundly at home during the summer. Several people wished Elton John well and expressed hope that he will recover quickly.
John never performs without sunglasses when on stage.”I gave it a shot in the early 1980s, but I felt vulnerable. Glasses boost my self-esteem. Without them, I’m not the same person,” he said.

“I fell awkwardly on a hard surface at the end of my summer break and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since,” he said, giving his justification.
The performer disclosed that despite receiving specialized care and intense physical therapy, his agony grew worse with time. As a result, moving had grown increasingly difficult. The doctors recommended surgery in order to ensure his full recovery and prevent any potential long-term issues.
In 2023, the 77-year-old experienced a brief hospital stay due to a health issue that occurred when he fell at his Nice, France house. But he was later fired.
His representative confirmed that the day after his fall, he was brought home in fine condition after making a precautionary trip to a neighboring hospital for testing. In 2022, when images of John in a wheelchair made news, his admirers became concerned for his well-being.
