Miles, the son of Chrissy Teigen and John Legend has a health update.
The 6-year-old son of the Cravings author revealed on Instagram on Wednesday that he had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
Teigen wrote, “I love you guys!” next to the photo.
In a snapshot Teigen shared earlier this week from the 2024 Paris Olympics, Miles’ monitor was visible on his arm. Fans noticed this and Teigen added that she felt obliged to share the news of Miles’ diagnosis.
She commented, “A lot of you noticed something a little special about a photo I posted a few days ago,” next to a photo of herself, Miles, and Luna holding up signs from the games that had Simone Biles’ name on them.Miles, Luna, and I are happy for Simone and Team USA. With Miles’ arm raised, so many of you spoke up on this platform with the most amazing and lovely things I have ever seen.
“You saw his type-1 diabetes monitor and gave him so much love and encouragement in every way you could,” she went on. I was and still am in awe of this community’s generosity. Yes, I am aware. There may be far worse things! I could never grasp the unimaginable experiences that so many parents worldwide endure. Every time our phones receive a red alert, I remind myself of this. And we are really fortunate to have amazing, compassionate, and warm-hearted specialists at our disposal.
The Mayo Clinic states that type 1 diabetes, also referred to as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic illness.”The pancreas produces little or no insulin in this situation. The hormone insulin is what the body uses to let glucose, or sugar, into cells so those cells can make energy. Type 1 diabetes can be brought on by a number of variables, including some viruses and genetics. Type 1 diabetes can strike adults even though it typically first manifests in childhood or adolescence. There is still no cure for type 1 diabetes, despite much research.
Teigen went on, “Miles was diagnosed with shigella after becoming ill at camp.”The physicians said his blood tests revealed abnormalities even though he had the same condition as the other kids.

She mentioned in part, “A lot of his friends were also sick with it, as they all went to the same camp and well, it happens.”But the physicians were aware that there was another issue with his blood testing. Since then, I’ve discovered that this is the how a large number of young children wind up receiving a type-1 diagnosis after visiting the hospital for a different reason. We discovered after more testing that he is in the “honeymoon period” of his T1 lifetime. Now that we’ve given him his first insulin shot, let’s get started! a brand-new, distinct world for us, and we are undoubtedly picking up a lot of knowledge quickly.
Teigen continued by saying that the message served as a thank-you for all of the encouragement.
“This post is to thank you so much for your kindness,” she replied in response. “It helps Miles so much to know so many other people are going through the same thing and he is not alone.”
After sharing a picture of the book Year One With Type-1 and describing how she and Legend read it to their son, the Sports Illustrated model broke down in tears on social media.
“John and I read it to Miles last night, and I burst into tears at this page and had to leave the room so he couldn’t see me sobbing,” she penned. “He already has a deep love for the book. In any case, you are not alone! We also pledge to support you guys in the same way that you have supported us thus far.”

Teigen’s well-known friends and supporters reacted favorably to her comments.
The piece was well received by Nick Jonas, who has battled Type 1 diabetes since he was a young adolescent. Teigen posted on social media about meeting Jonas during the Olympics with her family and how he treated Miles very well.
“I adore that book; my two brothers own T1.”@nickjonas agrees; your son ought to meet some nasty individuals to realize he’s not alone and that he can still achieve great things. You guys are going to kill it, even though it’s a little frightening at first,” the user commented.
She cried, “Nick treated him so kindly!” to the commenter.”We were extremely fortunate to meet him.”
Teigen and Legend are also parents to three children: eight-year-old Luna, one-year-old Wren, and one-year-old Esti. Together with their two oldest kids, the couple attended the Olympic opening ceremony in Paris last week.

Teigen also shared the picture of Miles, Luna, and herself that she had included with her post on Sunday about Miles’ condition.
