MAN BUILDS A CUSTOMIZED KAYAK SO HE CAN GO ON THE WATER WITH HIS TWO DOGS

Everybody wants to spend as much time as possible with their dogs. With our pets, we have some of the best moments when we engage in our favorite pastimes and hobbies.

And one man went above and beyond, using a little creativity to make accommodations for his devoted dogs, so they could experience his passion of the water.

Traveling with his dogs and kayaking were the two greatest things in life for Vermont-born David Bahnson, a retired orthopedic surgeon. And he came up with a clever solution to combine the two in 2015 when he constructed a specially made kayak that could accommodate dogs.

The luggage entrance on a kayak was altered by David to create the ideal “dog-shaped hole” for his dog Susie, however it was too small for another person’s legs. In order to prevent water splashing in, he also created a detachable ring.

He told Huffington Post UK, “Our dogs have always loved to travel with us in cars, in my airplane, and in boats.” “It just seemed sense to build a way for them to kayak with us, and building the boats is fun anyway.”

He created even more space by adding a second doggie hole to the boat after he acquired Ginger, his second dog. He compared it to a triple kayak to The Dodo.

David was able to enjoy his favorite pastime with his devoted dogs by his side thanks to a dog-friendly kayak, and the fortunate pups had the opportunity to embark on an exciting kayak journey, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

He remarked, “They seem to love it.” When they see that we are heading somewhere and we take the kayaks out, they become delighted. They are proficient at entering the kayak on demand. They take a seat, and we depart.

Though Susie and Ginger have sadly since died away, what matters most is that they were able to spend some very precious time with their devoted owner.

A new generation has since inherited the unique doggie kayak: “My wife and her friends still use the kayaks and she takes our newest golden, Piper, along with her,” he said to HuffPost UK.

“I adore my four legged friends. Training them is fun, and I like their company. We’ve paddled hundreds of miles with our pets,” he said to The Dodo. “They simply love exploring new places.”

What a fantastic concept! These canines appeared to truly enjoy spending time on the water in their kayaks with their owners.
