Perhaps the most anxiety-inducing mode of transportation is flying. They are, statistically speaking, the safest mode of transportation, but that doesn’t help when you’re thousands of feet above the ground and turbulence strikes.
The reason behind airlines’ continuous endeavors to offer more comfortable travel alternatives, such first, business, and even luxury class options, could be this. It does come with a price, though; an upper class ticket can run you up to $2,000–$3,000 on some airlines.
Well, there was never a time when a traveler to Washington had to pick between comfort and affordability.
Experienced in the highs and lows of aviation, flight attendant Laura Failner saw this heartwarming moment.
She was so moved by it, in fact, that she later shared the story on Facebook.
This is what took place.
She penned:
“I enjoy searching for positive things in the world!
This adorable little 94-year-old woman boarded my plane today while I was flying up to Washington. She struggled to return to her seat since she was weak. There was some uncertainty about her proper seating arrangement. This lovely gentleman in first class noticed her predicament and flagged me down. “Will you kindly get her and put her in my seat so I can take hers?” he said. In order to retrieve her and take her to first class, he strolled back with me. She was incredibly moved. “Never in my 94 years has someone done that for me,” the woman exclaimed as she gave him a strong embrace. I’m grateful, young man. She shed tears of appreciation.
It was astounding how his considerate action affected everyone on the trip in a positive way. Let us all strive to do small deeds of kindness and support those around us, just like Christ did. Let us strive to be good in this crazy world.
Laura’s Facebook post was shared more than 9,000 times and had over 20,000 favorable responses.
The old woman was very moved by the man’s thoughtful gesture, which also had a ripple effect on many other people. After giving some thought to the event, Laura sent out a pleasant and hopeful message. She urged everyone to actively seek out chances to show compassion and love in their daily lives and to actively embody the spirit of Christ in whatever they do.
