Josh Daniel, a contestant on X Factor, almost selected an alternative song for his audition and may be remembered as the performer who moved Simon Cowell to tears.
Engaging in Dialogue with One’s Reflection Kerrianne Covell, a friend of Josh who reached the judges’ homes on the ITV series in 2014, revealed that he had intended to perform a different song but opted for Labrinth’s “Jealous” after witnessing its rendition by her and Liv Quantrill.
Kerrianne recalls that Josh was meant to perform Nathan Sykes’ “Kiss Me Quick.”
“I believe that is not the song,” Liv remarked to us at the dance studio. What further songs would you suggest?
“I contend that jealousy was his fourth alternative.” He exercised caution to avoid seeming overly akin to Labrinth.
However, the two succeeded in persuading him after observing a performance in which he sang while kneeling on the ground.
“It is unequivocal,” I asserted. Kerrianne asserted that it must be the one, given your ability to touch people’s hearts as you did while only kneeling on the ground.
“He inquired whether he could alter his song,” a few days prior to his audition.
Josh dedicated the song to his friend Tom Woolley, who died in 2013 at the age of 18, as he revealed on Sunday night’s broadcast.
Observers noted Simon, whose mother Julie Brett had died just before the auditions commenced, exhibiting signs of agitation during the performance. Subsequently, he was transported in a golf cart, leaving Nick Grimshaw and Cheryl F-V uncertain about their next course of action.
