D’Corey Johnson was 11 years old and came all the way from Louisville, Kentucky, to stand on the America’s Got Talent stage. He said he watches the show almost every day, and that his dream is to be on Broadway, in movies, and in shows like Hamilton and Wicked.

He sang Open Arms by Journey, and by the end everyone in the theater was on their feet. But Simon had one more request. He asked D’Corey to sing again without the backing track 🎤.

With only his voice filling the room, D’Corey sounded even better. The audience cheered him on, and the judges could not stop smiling.

One judge said he definitely has a place on Broadway. Another said she was glad Simon took the music away, because the music was just in the way. Simon told him he has a distinctive voice that will keep getting better, and said he would love to be the first to give him a yes 👏.
