The 14-Year-Olds Who Became Britain’s Youngest Parents

In 2010, April Webster and Nathan Fishbourne made headlines across the UK after becoming the country’s youngest parents — a title that followed them for years.

April was only 13 when she became pregnant, and by the time their son, Jamie, was born, both teenagers had turned 14.

Their situation quickly sparked nationwide debate, disbelief, and curiosity. Some people reacted with harsh judgment, while others felt sympathy for two children suddenly thrown into adulthood. But after the media attention faded, many wondered what became of the family everyone once talked about.

She hadn’t told her parents

April and Nathan’s story began at St Cenydd School in Caerphilly, South Wales, where they met as classmates. Like many teenage relationships, it started out normally — until April became pregnant at 13.

She found out she was expecting just one day before her 14th birthday, and the news shocked both families. April later admitted she hadn’t told her parents about their sexual relationship because she felt “too embarrassed.”

The couple also claimed they hadn’t used protection, explaining that after trying contraception once, Nathan didn’t like it.
