I came home expecting a normal evening—only to find our babysitter stepping out of the shower… and my husband, who was supposed to be at work, standing there like it was completely normal. Instantly, my stomach dropped. Nothing about it made sense.
The babysitter quickly explained that our toddler had spilled milk all over her, so she took a fast shower while the kids were napping. My husband brushed it off like it was no big deal. But what bothered me most was this: he never told me he’d be home.

I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
So the next day, I set up an old nanny cam. Not long after I left for work, I watched my husband walk back into the house on the live feed. My heart started pounding. I rushed home, convinced I was about to catch him in something unforgivable.
But what I discovered was a completely different kind of secret.

He wasn’t cheating.
He’d lost his job a week earlier.
Too ashamed—and too scared of stressing me out—he’d been pretending to go to work, while secretly staying home to apply for jobs and help with the kids. And the shower situation? It was exactly what it looked like: an innocent accident that my fear turned into something else.
