After being shot in the head while riding in her father’s vehicle, an 11-year-old girl is in critical condition. According to authorities, the incident took place in Antioch, which is northeast of San Francisco. Her father has now disclosed the devastating query she posed to him following the shooting.
On January 5, as they were getting ready to leave an apartment complex in Antioch, northeast of San Francisco, California, the 11-year-old girl was in her father’s vehicle when a gunman opened fire, according to police officials.
One bullet struck the 11-year-old girl in the head after passing through the rear windshield of the vehicle. She was moved to Benioff Children’s Hospital at UCSF. Shortly after the shooting, her father shared his daughter’s first devastating words, according to the Daily Mail.
“Why can’t I see, Dad?” she asks, and the father responds. It is really painful for me. I don’t think any father could manage those words.
A girl, age eleven, was shot in the head.
According to the Antioch Police Department, the girl was seated in the front passenger seat when her father abruptly started firing rounds while he was driving to the store. The father, who has not been made public because of safety concerns, said he is in a state of panic and sadness.
He declared, “My family is everything to me.” “My heart feels like it’s being torn out.”
Anahi Ramirez, the girl’s aunt, talked about how upsetting it was to watch her niece in the intensive care unit.
I’m still in disbelief. I find everything that has transpired unbelievable. It’s really challenging,” she remarked, as reported by the Daily Mail. It’s difficult because I’m her aunt and godmother. I am her father’s sister. We’ve been together forever. Seeing her like that is really difficult.
Despite making eye contact, the father failed to recognize the shooter. The Antioch Police Department’s Lt. Bill Whitaker said. The father of the 11-year-old stated that they felt “unsafe” going back home and demanded that the apartment building be more secure.
The suspect surrendered.
According to KTVU, Ryan Hardy, the suspect, surrendered to the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office on Monday, January 12.
Lt. Bill Whitaker stated, “[The investigator] was able to have the family bring him into the San Francisco Sheriff’s and he was able to self-surrender after multiple conversations over the last seven days.”
The 11-year-old girl’s initial diagnosis was bleak. She lost her vision and her ability to walk, but today physicians are pleased to find that she is getting better.
“She’s beginning to regain her vision and her ability to walk,” Lt. Whitaker stated. “She still has a long way to go, but everything is moving in the right direction.”
To “help cover emergency living expenses, relocation costs to a safer community, lost income during this crisis, and future medical and therapy-related needs,” an 11-year-old girl’s family member set up a GoFundMe campaign. It has earned about $25,000 as of this writing.
The 11-year-old girl’s GoFundMe page was started.
“Her road ahead is uncertain and will require extensive medical care, therapy, and long-term emotional healing,” the GoFundMe description states.She is hardly the only victim of the trauma. The family must leave everything behind for their own protection and the safety of all of their children since they are always afraid of reprisals and no longer feel secure going back to their house in Antioch because the gunman has not been apprehended.
“This entails leaving their home permanently, quitting their jobs that generate income, and moving to the Bay Area, where living expenses are very high, while still being by their daughter’s bedside.”
The trauma of this event has a profound effect on three further siblings as well.This family is sincere, modest, and diligent; their only goal is to provide their kids with a secure and stable future while establishing a life in the US. They never thought they would have to beg for assistance, but they are now in an impossible situation.
