On New Year’s Day, Paul J. Kim, a Catholic content creator, revealed some devastating personal news. Micah, his 5-year-old son, sadly died on December 31, New Year’s Eve.
“After fighting 11 long hard days, [Micah] went home to the house of our father,” he wrote in an emotional video that he shared on social media.
“We are so proud of him. As his father, I want to express my sincere gratitude on behalf of my family for all of the ways you guys prayed for us and supported us during this difficult time. This is a very challenging and unachievable time for our family. It has been and still is the most difficult thing I have ever experienced in my life.
Even though all I want right now is privacy and time to grieve with my family, I felt compelled to provide you all an update out of appreciation. Micah is already in Heaven at work, literally, so many testimonials, so many ways in which God is utilizing the light in my five-year-old to truly rescue souls and transform the world,” Kim said in his video.
On December 21, Micah was brought to the hospital due to an influenza case.
However, his condition got worse and he caught sepsis. At this point, the body launches an attack on itself as part of an immunological reaction.
Medical personnel did their hardest, but Micah did not get better. There was allegedly no “brain activity present” when he was brought to intensive care. On New Year’s Eve, he passed away.
Kim described the “heart-wrenching awkward experiences” of his life when the family returned home without their son.
In his video, the influencer added, “Coming back to a home where Micah is not running around, laughing and screaming as he usually is.”
Micah is among the 3,100 Americans who have lost their lives to the flu this season. The flu also infected more than 7.5 million other people.
Infants and small children are among those most severely affected. This type of flu was mutated into a ‘super-flu’ and has been producing infections which are far more severe than usual.
The most prevalent strain at the moment is Influenza A, a rapidly spreading mutation of H3N2 known as “subclade K.”
It is believed responsible for a huge number of hospital admissions which have come this season since the Summer. There were other reports of cases in the UK, Australia, Japan, and other countries.
Tell others about this so they can offer the family their condolences and prayers as they mourn this terrible loss.
