A woman called a young soldier a traitor to the Motherland when she was on the plane, but she later heard his name in the news and felt bad about what she had done 
There was the customary silence in the flight cabin. While some people gazed out the window, others fell asleep. A young soldier sat next to a woman in her fifties. His uniform was tidy, but his eyes were weary and vacant. His thoughts appeared to be far away, someplace amidst smoke, cries, and fire, as he gazed at the floor.
He was contacted by a flight attendant. Her tone was gentle yet brimming with sincere sympathy:
— Sir, I recently learned about your allies. I’m so sorry. You must be aware that you are a real hero. You have our admiration.
The soldier lowered his head once again after nodding and forcing a small smile, almost out of courtesy. His eyes were still lost and icy, and his hands were shaking.
The woman at his side, who had been observing him with open disdain, was suddenly unable to contain herself. Her tone was piercing, bordering on accusatory:
— A hero? You’re a traitor. Knowing that you failed to save your friends, how can you live?
The soldier looked up. His face was etched with misery, and tears glistened in eyes. However, he said nothing.
The woman continued, unable to control her rage, as though sensing weakness:
— To live, you only considered yourself! They’re gone, but you survived. How are you going to face their mothers? Their spouses? You’re a monster!
Every word went directly to his heart. With his lips pushed into a narrow line, the soldier sat in silence. There was simply sadness in his eyes, not protest or rage.
It was obvious that he already bore a burden greater than any penalty. However, the woman continued to speak. For a long time. repeatedly, as though purposefully applying salt to the injury.
She got up as soon as the plane touched down and passed him without a look. She believed she had expressed what was necessary.
However, everything changed the following day. The woman opened the news and recognized a face. He, the same soldier from the plane, appeared on the screen. When the woman discovered the whole truth about the young man, she really regretted what she had done

Her heart fell as she carefully read the piece. According to the article, the young man risked his life to rescue twenty of his fellow soldiers from a military base fire.
Through flames and smoke, one by one, on his shoulders. He kept returning till he passed out from tiredness. However, five of his buddies were still trapped inside as the fire got bigger. He just didn’t have time to go back and get them.
He placed the blame on himself. He felt accountable for their passing. He was a hero to everyone else, however. What no man could have done on his own, he had done.
The woman’s phone fell to the table. She started crying. She had hurled all of her rage at him the day before, knowing nothing.
Unaware that the guy sitting next to her had sacrificed everything for others, she had dubbed him a monster and a traitor. A man with twenty lives saved.
The shame now was too much for her. It was impossible to retract their words. She realized that her brutality might end up becoming just another burden on his soul.
She then realized that sometimes we make judgments without fully understanding the situation. We occasionally injure those who are already damaged. And it might be too late to seek for forgiveness.
