When I attempted to soothe my grandson, my daughter-in-law exclaimed, “Don’t touch him, you’re dirty.” I was taken aback by her statement, so I did the following.
After experiencing financial troubles, my son and his spouse have been living with us for a year. Family members should help one another through difficult times, in my opinion. I therefore tried my best to assist them.
My daughter-in-law first came across as quite generous, and I was always happy to lend a hand, particularly when their kid was born.
I was tending to the flowers one day when I heard sobbing coming from the baby’s room. I hurried to the room without giving it any thought and picked up my grandson in an attempt to soothe him.
Just then, my daughter-in-law came in and shouted, quite harshly, “Don’t touch him, you’re dirty.”
I was taken aback. When my son entered the room, he heard what she had to say. To my astonishment, he only stated that his wife was “protecting her child,” even though I had assumed he would defend me. I was greatly upset by the remark.
Rather than remain silent, I made the decision to act, and this is what I did.
To be honest, I never imagined sharing this tale, but I would really like to hear your thoughts and what you would do in this kind of circumstance.
I gave the situation and the prevailing family relations some thought after this happened.
My daughter-in-law has previously behaved in a degrading manner toward me.
I had previously endured a number of her disrespectful actions and hurtful remarks in the hopes that things would get better eventually.
However, those remarks were the final straw.
I didn’t want to put up with this disrespect any longer, especially in my own house.
I took a drastic step and decided it was time for them to go.
I politely told my son that although I could understand their financial struggles, I could no longer put up with his wife treating him in this manner.
I warned him that if they didn’t show me at least some respect while they were living with me, they would have to vacate.
They left my house the following day.
