My 22-year-old daughter brought her boyfriend home for dinner։ I greeted him with a smile…

😨😲 My daughter, 22, invited her boyfriend over for dinner. I smiled as I greeted him. He kept dropping his fork during dinner, though, and when I leaned down to pick it up, I noticed something beneath the table, which prompted me to dash to the kitchen and covertly call 911.

My daughter, who is 22 years old, had never brought a partner home before. Since laughing had returned to the house for the first time in years, I welcomed him calmly, albeit with a hint of pride. But after a while, something about the circumstances began to feel strange.

He was courteous—too courteous. His eyes were icy, as though he was completely unconcerned by what was happening, and his smile appeared practiced. I initially assumed it was nerves, but then he started dropping his fork. Once. Twice. Three times. And beneath the table every time.

Emily stiffened, her fingers shaking, and I saw it. I was astounded by what I saw when I bent down to pick up the fork.

😱😱 Trying not to express my discomfort, I got up and said I would go check on the pie. I dialed 911 in the kitchen, my fingers shaking.

I saw a tiny parcel carefully taped to the underside of the tabletop when I leaned down once more. I was momentarily confused by what I was seeing. Then it suddenly struck me: that wasn’t garbage. It served as a hiding spot.

Calmly, I got up, grinned, and said I would go check on the pie. My hands were shaking when I dialed 911 in the kitchen.

The police had already entered the house a few minutes later. When they took out the present, my daughter’s boyfriend’s face turned pale, even though he feigned not to understand what was happening. There were tiny, securely closed sachets of powder within.

He never kept big sums with him, thus it came out that he had been “clean” in the eyes of the police for a long time.

He made advantage of other people’s homes, which are discreet, secure locations where nobody would consider looking beneath a table. After taking a portion of the hoard, he would sell it and come back for more.

He intended for my house to become one of his “stories.”
And I, the idiot, was just glad to see my daughter smiling at last.
