When I woke up one morning, I was surprised to see that my son’s bottle was empty and his diaper was already clean. I was stunned when I learned what was going on at night.
I am raising my eight-month-old kid alone, living alone, and being a single mother. He frequently wakes up during the night and is rather active.
I was initially shocked to discover that he hadn’t woken up during the night when I got up one morning. I was shocked to see that his diaper had already been changed when I went to change it. And the bottle was empty.
I initially believed that I might have forgotten to give him his bottle and change his diaper in the middle of the night.
However, the same thing happened again the next day: another empty bottle, another changed diaper. And I didn’t remember doing it at all this time. It became alarming.
Could it be that I was sleepwalking? I could think of no other rational explanation. Throughout the next few nights, my son slept soundly and didn’t wake up, and every morning was spotless. I made the decision to remain awake at that point in order to comprehend the true situation.
After spending the entire night awake, I eventually learned what was going on at night. I couldn’t speak.
I struggled to believe the truth when I eventually found it.
I stayed up that night to see my six-year-old daughter stealthily go into her brother’s room.
With remarkable accuracy for her age, she changed his diaper and handed him his bottle.
She didn’t even feel worn out.
She appeared to know exactly what she needed to do and to be doing it as part of her routine.
“I wanted to help you, mommy, so you could sleep,” she replied with a bashful smile when she realized I was awake.
My eyes filled with tears.
Like a tiny mother, she had discreetly decided to assist me without my knowledge.
