The dog had remained in one place for three days, and I was startled to learn the cause of this behavior.
On my walk to work every morning, I would pass a typical home with a tiny dog in the backyard. I had never noticed any hint of violence in this dog, and it was always quite nice.
But one day, when I was walking past this residence, I saw the dog sitting quietly beneath a tree. It typically ran happily around the garden whenever I passed, so this was unexpected. I didn’t pay much attention at first because I assumed it was just resting. However, over the next few days, the scene was repeated. It remained there, motionless, for three days in a row. It was getting weirder, because such a lively canine appeared to be frozen.
Concerned, I made the decision to see how things were going. To find out if anyone was home, I initially yelled. I scaled the fence to get close to the dog when no one answered. I noticed an unending melancholy in its eyes as it gazed at me. I realized then that there was a big problem.
What I found shocked me to my core.
I eventually realized what was wrong when I got closer to the dog.
Its collar had a leash fastened to it, although that wasn’t the worst thing.
The knot was extremely tight, deeply entrenched in its skin.
Around its neck, I could see redness and symptoms of inflammation.
It was remained motionless, worn out, and obviously in pain.
Normally full of life and happiness, its eyes were suddenly filled with anguish.
I seized the dog right away and hurried it to the veterinarian.
The veterinarian examined its neck and determined that it was experiencing extreme irritation.
The right care caused the redness to go away soon.
The dog’s vigor and smile returned after a few days of care.
I made the decision to retain the dog because the house’s owners hadn’t come back in a long time.
I knew that this little creature would never again be left to its miserable fate, and I was relieved to see it regaining its love of life.
