My son brought me to a secluded village on my birthday, left me off close to a run-down house, and declared that this would be my home going forward: However, he had no idea what sort of retaliation was in store for him.
It was my 65th birthday. Retirement was a date I had anticipated with a mixture of hope and trepidation. I had dedicated my entire life to work, raising and raising my son by myself, and giving him my strength, my health, and my love. I believed that I could finally take a small break now that I was older. However, it turned out that my biggest challenge started on this exact day.
My kid informed me that we were going “on some errands” on my birthday. He remembered that he wanted to spend time with me, which made me even happier. We drove for a long time, and my anxiety increased as we moved further out of the city. Finally, the vehicle came to a stop close to a little, deserted, half-ruined house on the outskirts of a far-off village.
My youngster quietly said, “Mom.” This is your new residence.
I wasn’t sure what he meant at first.
— How is my house doing? Confused, I asked. However, how am I to live here? Water and power are unavailable.
He gave a shoulder shrug:
I no longer have that issue. A portion of your pension will be sent to you. Then, live your life as you please.
— Section? However, that is my money! — I glanced at him in the hopes that it was a dumb joke.
Then he uttered the words that really got to me:
— Have you forgotten that you have been dependent on me for all these years? This is my way of saying thank you.
I was unable to control my tears. I pleaded with him not to abandon me, telling him that I couldn’t live on my own. However, he abruptly turned around, got into the car, and sped off after yelling and swearing. I was abandoned. on my birthday.
However, my depressing tale doesn’t stop there. My son came back a few days later. I understood right away when he spoke softly, almost tenderly, this time. My retaliation had been successful. Allow me to explain what I did, and feel free to share as well; perhaps some of you have had similar circumstances.
Please pardon me, Mom; I was mistaken. Let’s return home and resume our previous way of life.
However, I was already aware that this was not repentance. In his hands, I spotted the packet containing documents. He then went directly to the point:
I need you to sign this. You realize that the apartment should be mine after Dad passes away. I’ll handle everything if you sign the gift deed.
I was seething inside as I listened to him. He had convinced me that I was a burden for so many years. He had repeatedly claimed to be providing for and feeding me.
It turned out that I was the owner of the apartment where he had lived for all these years. I had provided him with a place to live. Not him, but me.
He begged, saying he couldn’t live without me, and pledged to look after me and bring me home. But that was no longer what I wanted. I firmly said “no” for the first time in my life.
I said gently, “Pack your things, son.” — And leave my house now.
He didn’t think I was real. He yelled, grasped my hands, and made an effort to convince me. However, I was uncompromising.
