The surgeon was about to start the operation but suddenly noticed something on the patient’s body and categorically refused to proceed

When the surgeon saw something on the patient’s body, he abruptly decided not to proceed with the procedure.

The regular, almost habitual, bustle of the operation room filled the room. While the surgeon examined the lamp lighting and instructed the assistants, nurses set up instruments on sterile tables. The constant buzz of the machines came through the partially open door.

The anesthesiologist stated softly, “The patient was brought in unconscious.” – He was discovered on the road. Even though his blood pressure fluctuates, we’re prepared to begin. — “Starting on time is crucial,” the surgeon said, securing his sterile gown. Assuming all goes as planned, we will save him.

The assistants and surgeons proceeded to the sinks. Hand washing, gloves, and masks were among the exact and well-practiced actions. The nurses had already connected sensors, adjusted the monitors, and covered the patient with the blue surgical drape. There was a slight antiseptic odor in the air. It was all happening just like it had hundreds of times before.

The surgeon walked up to the table and grabbed a tool. and froze all of a sudden. He kept looking at a flesh patch that was exposed. He scowled. He put the guitar down slowly.

He stated firmly, “The operation is canceled.”

There was silence in the operating room.

Cancelled? What do you mean? — The nurse’s outrage was barely concealed. We won’t be able to save him if we don’t act right away!

“That’s too much risk,” the surgeon said. — For such situations, there is a protocol.

Without saying another word, he took off his gloves and walked away.

To find out why the surgeon declined to perform surgery, the nurse approached the patient and noticed

Clearly written in black ink on the flesh were the following words:

AVOID RESUSCITATING

Such inscriptions may in some circumstances be interpreted as a legally binding statement of the patient’s wishes, such as a ban on undergoing any kind of surgery.

Even if they are aware that it denies the patient any hope of survival, doctors are nonetheless required to comply.

A lot of people find getting a symbolic or “joke” tattoo amusing. However, it could be the cause of your death in a life-or-death situation where every minute matters.

Before adorning your body with phrases whose significance you are unsure about, give it some thought.
