The visitors began to complain when the dog abruptly leaped into the pool, but he eventually emerged since he had something frightening in his mouth.
By the pool, it was just another typical hot day. People were splashing in the cool water, laughing, lounging, and sunbathing. Men browsed their phones in the shade, women sat with cocktails beneath umbrellas, and kids played with balls. It was a serene environment, reminiscent of a dreamy summer.
The visitors were abruptly drawn to a dog that was standing directly at the pool’s edge. It was a big, pale dog, soaked and obviously distressed. He began barking loudly and paced back and forth as though he was screaming for assistance after staring into the ocean.
One of the visitors jumped out of her lounge chair and cried out, “What a disgrace!” “Who allowed that filthy dog to be close to the pool? Nowadays, nobody wants to go swimming. “Ew!”
“Give him some space; he might be attractive.” He’s also a live thing,” said a man nearby coolly.
However, the dog leaped into the water with a loud splash before they could finish speaking.
While some yelled, others chuckled, assuming the dog was only trying to cool down. However, it wasn’t that easy. The dog surfaced a few seconds later and swam to the edge, but this time he had something unexpected in his mouth. At that point, everybody realized why the dog was acting strangely
Everyone noticed that the dog was not holding a towel or a toy in his mouth when he emerged from the water. He had bitten into a girl’s clothing who was perhaps a year old or somewhat older. The young girl was crying, struggling for air, scared, and completely soaked.
There was panic. The parents screamed as they ran from a neighboring corner; the woman knelt by the dog and yanked the child from his mouth. In a panic, the man dialed an ambulance. The child was breathing despite coughing.
It was later found that the young girl had crept through the grass to the pool while the parents were momentarily distracted. When she fell into the sea, nobody saw her—not even the family or lifeguards. The dog was the only one who saw and responded right away.
The dog didn’t hesitate and hurried to save the little life while everyone else was yelling and racing around.
The girl was comfortably asleep in her mother’s arms and had already been changed into dry clothes when the ambulance came. She had ingested some water, but it was all in time, according to the physicians, who declared everything was OK.
And the canine… With wet fur and wise, weary eyes, the dog simply lay in the shade, breathing deeply.
Everyone had a lasting memory of that day in the pool. And the statement that dogs shouldn’t go near water was never made again.
