My wife was lying still on the bed as I entered the bedroom, and our dog was lying on top of her, licking her face and neck. As I peered more closely, I saw something awful
My spouse and I have a devoted and affectionate dog. Since day one, he has been a member of our family; he sleeps with us, welcomes us home, and notices every shift in our attitude. We frequently claim that no one knows us better than him.
However, one day an odd and terrifying event occurred.
It was a typical evening. My wife’s scream came from the bedroom while I was in the kitchen. Silent, but obviously afraid. I was instantly alarmed by the sound of the calm house. I hurried to the chamber.
Our dog was on my wife as she lay on the bed. He moaned gently and licked her neck. She seemed to try to push the dog away at times, but she stayed still. I nearly laughed at first, assuming they were merely having fun because that had occurred previously. Something stopped me as I reached for my phone to capture this heartwarming moment. When I looked more closely, I saw that it was a really awful game rather than a joyful one.
I observed that my wife’s neck had nearly black skin. I initially believed it to be a shadow or even dirt. However, as I drew nearer, I realized that it was skin. Darkened, somewhat bloated, as though she had been pushed against or suffocated.
I went cold.
My wife was awake but hardly talking. As if to resuscitate her, garner attention, or express himself in his own unique manner, the dog continued to lick her.
I dialed an ambulance right away. She started to wake up while we waited, breathing heavily. Later, doctors speculated that it might have been a reaction to a carotid artery clot or a concealed stroke. It’s also possible that the dog noticed the change before us.
How he sensed something wasn’t right is unknown to us. Feelings? Can you smell? Compassion?
I do know, though, that things could have turned out far worse without him. I hurried into the room and promptly shouted for assistance because of the dog.
We no longer merely love him. We are indebted to him. My wife is doing well now. Has your pet’s behavior ever caught your attention like this?
