Because of their extreme toxicity, a single touch can result in internal hemorrhage, unconsciousness, and in certain situations, death. particularly for those who are immunocompromised, aged, or chronically ill.
Because they blend in so well with the bark, these caterpillars frequently form dense clusters on tree trunks. They appear to be a part of nature, which is what makes them so deceiving.
We got in touch with the local environmental authorities following the occurrence. Soon after, experts showed up and carefully took the caterpillars out. To warn other families, we also put a caution sign on the tree.
My perspective on nature has changed since that day. I always bring gloves, a tiny first aid box, and a magnifying lens when I go out with my grandchildren. Caution is knowledge, not terror.
