People noticed an emaciated dog coming out of the forest with a plastic bag in her mouth: when they opened the bag, they were horrified by what they saw

People were appalled by what they saw when they unzipped the plastic bag after spotting an emaciated dog emerge from the forest with it in her mouth.

The village appeared to hold its breath on that cold evening. The air smelled of chimney smoke, the sky was gray and low, and the leaves rustled beneath the feet. Ignoring the sounds coming from the bushes on the side of the road, people rushed home. However, someone yelled abruptly:

— See! A canine!

An extremely tired and scrawny dog emerged from the forest. Her fur hung in patches, her eyes were full of sorrow and begging, and one by one her ribs were exposed. Gently, she held a plastic bag in her mouth. Instead of snarling or fleeing, she seemed to be pleading for assistance.

The dog refused to leave when a woman from the next house ventured close. She set the bag down carefully and let out a little moan, looking around at the others as though she was worried they may misinterpret her.

In a whisper, the woman asked, “What is this?”

She let out a horrified cry as she unzipped the bag.

Three small, shuddering puppies were crowded close inside. Curled up in search of warmth, yet blind.

With a quiet cry, the dog spread out next to them and offered her dried-up nipples, giving them whatever she had.

The forest had very little food, and she only ate the leaves, acorns, and bark she could find as a last resort. She gave her pups her best.

In the woods, she lived by herself. How many nights she had spent curled up, protecting her puppies from the wind, and how long she had been on the run were unknown to everyone.

But she had lost her strength today. She realized that none of them would live if she didn’t turn to people. She came out for that reason. As a final resort.

While someone else set a bowl of water and leftover soup in front of the mother dog, the woman picked up the puppies and held them to her bosom.

She ate slowly and paused, not because she was afraid but rather because she was weak. There was a slight wag of her tail. This, she realized, was safety.

They were all later brought to a shelter. The puppies were cherished, fed, and grew up strong.
