Are you all familiar with Bo Derek? She has always been a favorite of mine, and my admiration for this goddess only grew after learning about her recent activities.
It was hard to miss the stunning young blonde with the dazzling blue eyes in the film “10” when I first saw Bo Derek in her breakout role in 1979.
However, what transpired following her renowned period in Hollywood?
Golden Years of Television published this on Monday, November 21, 2016.
Bo Derek was raised in California and was born Mary Cathleen Collins. Her mother worked with Swedish-American actress Ann-Margeret, which helped her establish herself in Hollywood at a young age.
At the age of 16, Bo secured an agent through her mother’s connections, which led to her first cinematic part in the film Once Upon a Love.
The Greek archipelago’s picturesque island of Mykonos served as the backdrop for the movie. Bo got to know her future husband, John Derek, while filming the film. Soon after, the pair fell in love and started dating. John Derek was 47 years old at the time, while Bo was just 17.
The fact that John Derek was happily married to actress Linda Evans was another aspect that made their connection unsuitable, even though the age gap alone may have caused scandal.

However, John divorced his actress wife shortly after he met Bo.
“I was at least partially to blame for some severe suffering that Linda Evans endured.” She had been so kind and gracious. Oddly enough, I only saw her yesterday. We were at a charity jewelry trunk exhibition. And she was as amazing and magnificent as ever before. Being around her makes me feel like sh*t all the time. Years later, it’s just engrained,” Bo said in an interview with Interview Magazine in 2016.
The pair spent some time in Europe and Mexico to escape California’s age of consent rules because John was in danger of being arrested in the US because Bo was still a child. Later, in 1976, they got married in Las Vegas. He was 49, she was 19.
Bo’s career took off once they were married. To generate talk about his low-budget flicks, John frequently positioned her in awkward stances and scenarios. Bo made a name for herself as one of Hollywood’s most attractive actors in the film “10.” Additionally, it was in that film that her famous cornrow-style blond braids made their debut.

Despite not being the film’s director, her husband really suggested that Bo should have braids in the movie.
Everything was fluffy toward the end of the 1970s, and I’m blond, and How are you going to change the way you look? John, who is an excellent photographer, had long believed that I would look well in that pose. We also gave it a try. “Why don’t you show Blake these photos and see if he’ll agree?” he asked. She told Interview Magazine, “It would be great for the role, so you don’t look ordinary.”

Bo has been involved in politics since the start of the twenty-first century, and throughout the 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns, she publicly endorsed George W. Bush and the Republican Party. She did, however, vote for Barack Obama and states that she does not currently support any party.

She has authored an autobiography titled Riding Lessons: Everything That Matters in Life I Learned from Horses and has a strong passion for horses, particularly the Portuguese breed Lusitano.
She was also breeding horses on her ranch for a while. Bo has long called for a stop to the slaughter of horses and has been an advocate for animal welfare.

By serving as honorary chair of VA’s National Rehabilitation Special Events, she also contributes to the rehabilitation and support of war veterans.
Speaking to the Office of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, Derek stated, “VA’s National Rehabilitation Special Events encourage the healing of body and spirit, which helps veterans improve their independence and enjoy a higher quality of life.””I am incredibly moved and honored to be the honorary chair of a genuinely admirable cause on behalf of America’s Veterans once more.”

Bo’s stepfather and late husband, John, were also warriors, and her father, Paul Collins, was a radio operator during the Korean War. The 63-year-old Bo, who has been a widow since 1998, is currently seeing 59-year-old actor and former “Sex and the City” star John Corbett.
We make each other laugh and enjoy each other’s company. We still hold hands and have picnics with friends a few times a week, even after fifteen years,” Bo explains.
The pair first got together in 2002. At his customary Oscars party, Bo and Corbett were paired up by Hollywood agent Norby Walters.

“I’m not dating anyone,” I remarked, and he said, ‘I’ll get you a date, Corbett!'” And he introduced me to Bo,” Corbett said in a 2015 interview with TODAY.
The pair finally shared some exciting news in August 2021. In a private ceremony, Bo and Corbett exchanged vows after over two decades of dating.
We tend to be quite private. We didn’t announce anything. Although our friends and family were aware of it, neither of us has publicly discussed it until now since we haven’t had the chance. So, you’re my friend, and I suppose I’m telling the entire United States or the entire world today,” Corbett stated in a CBS virtual interview.

As of right now, Bo Derek and her husband, sister, brother-in-law, and two kids are still living a lovely life in California.
Even though she is no longer in the spotlight or featured in major motion pictures, she is still a timeless figure.
Take the seaside scene below, for instance. You know it, don’t you?
