Matted poodle was on the loose for 8 months — now looks completely different after makeover

Grooming a dog is more than just keeping them looking nice. Maintaining a dog’s fur is crucial because if it becomes too long and matted, it can cause major discomfort and issues for the animal.

Many homeless and abandoned dogs are discovered in dire need of a makeover, but with a little love and attention, they transform into whole different canines.

Recently, a mangey stray dog that had been living on the streets for months was transformed thanks to the efforts of one animal charity.

A Missouri charity organization called Ozarks Pet Rescue intervened to save a poodle mix, now named Larry, who had been spotted straying close to a Norwood gas station. He had been homeless for at least eight months, despite efforts to apprehend him.

Larry’s fur became so long and matted during that period that it covered the poor dog’s eyes entirely.

But last month, Ozark Pet Rescue managed to sedate the dog, capture him, and transport him to safety with the help of animal control and a group of volunteers.

Larry tested positive for whipworms and tick illness but negative for heartworms. During the decompression period, he was initially hesitant but has gradually warmed up to his rescuers.

“He gave our board member a few belly kisses, but he’s still afraid, so patience and time will be needed!” On Facebook, Ozarks Pet Rescue posted.

Above all, they provided Larry with a much-needed makeover. cutting Larry’s body weight down from 22 to 19 pounds by removing an incredible 3 pounds of tangled fur.

The rescue posted before-and-after photos that showed a striking change:

Online users were astounded by how much Larry’s grooming had changed.

One remark says, “It’s hard to believe that sweet boy was underneath that shell of matted fur.” Even though he’s a little uncertain at the moment, he will have a fantastic life. I’m grateful.

“Oh my god…Under all of that matted fur, he is adorable,” someone another commented. I’m very grateful that you all supported him.I wish him the greatest possible home!

Where Larry comes from is unclear. Despite being neutered, he lacked a microchip. The rescue is trying to find out if he has any owners out there while he is on stray hold.

Many individuals online have indicated interest in adopting Larry, and if no one steps forward, he will probably be placed for adoption after he has recovered.

A haircut can make a big impact! Larry looks like a completely different dog, and we are so happy that he is finally secure. ❤️
