Funeral arrangements set for 2-year-old Arkansas girl who died after being beaten

Our children are our most valuable asset, and we take every precaution to ensure their safety.

This explains why the tale of young Ava Ann Marie Tabor is so tragic. She was a happy, affectionate two-year-old whose life was tragically taken.

A 19-year-old man is currently detained – he allegedly admitted to assaulting her.

was watching Ava.

Born in Texarkana, Texas, on November 28, 2022, little Ava Ann Marie Tabor was a happy and intelligent two-year-old. Her sky-blue eyes and beautiful smile lit up every space, and she loved to dance and help in the kitchen.

Above all, she was loved by her parents, Kylie Marie Perez and Levi Landon James Tabor. In early March, the family’s world was upended after they had established their lives in De Queen, Arkansas.

Wesley Davis, 19, was watching Ava that day when a terrible incident happened.

When she fell unresponsive, Davis called for medical assistance while he was keeping an eye on her at a residence in Lockesburg, Arkansas, according to Sevier County Sheriff Robert Gentry.

He apparently confessed to hitting Ava before being arrested.

Mom’s heartfelt farewell

Despite the doctors’ best attempts, Ava’s little life could not be saved after she was sent to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Ava passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, leaving behind a distraught family and community.

“Our final moment with our child… After putting you to bed, filling your bottles, playing with you, waking you up, saying goodbye, and listening to your little concerts in the car for two years… Never again will I get to do it. No more “momma c’mon,” no more Ava kisses, no more baby affections. You took this from me, Wesley Davis. My world was taken by you. I gave everything I had for you. Until you receive what is rightfully yours, I will not give up. Ava Ann Marie Tabor, you have my undying love. MOMMY’S BABY YOU WILL ALWAYS BE. NEVER FORGET! Kylie Perez, Ava’s mother, posted on her Facebook page.

Following Ava’s death on March 4, Wesley Davis’ first accusation of first-degree domestic battery was changed to first-degree murder.

Judge Bryan Chesshir imposed a $1 million bond on Davis last Thursday and barred him from contacting the victim’s relatives.

According to Kylie Perez, Ava’s mother, her kid is a bright light.

“This was not fair to my child. Additionally, Davis deserves all of the negative things that are happening to him. And until he gets it, I won’t give up.

Death threats have been made.

Sheriff Robert Gentry recognized the profound effect this case has had on the community, where feelings are running hot following the untimely loss of Ava.

“There have been threats of death, as well as threats of physical harm and injury to Mr. Davis,” he stated.

With the emphasis that justice will be delivered by the courts, authorities are now advising the public to wait for the legal system to finish.

Sevier County Sheriff Robert Gentry told KSLA, “We will try our best to ensure that the legal system takes care of the one who harmed her because she didn’t deserve what happened to her.”

Ava’s family decided to give her organs as a last act of compassion, allowing others to have a chance at life.

According to KSLA, plans have been put in place to pay tribute to the young girl’s memory. Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas will host a funeral ceremony for Ava Ann Marie Tabor on Thursday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m.

The previous evening, Wednesday, March 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., a visitation will take place at the same place.

How could somebody possibly harm a child? I’m so sorry for this family! Prayers for the family and RIP, little angel!
