Kane Brown left the crowd in awe when he delivered the surprise of a lifetime, stepping back from the mic to reveal none other than country legend Randy Travis

Fans attending Kane Brown’s Saturday, August 20, headline performance in Oklahoma were treated to a charming and particularly important surprise: In the middle of his performance, the artist introduced country music icon Randy Travis.

Travis was beaming with happiness as the younger artist serenaded him with his 2002 hit tune, “Three Wooden Crosses,” while he sat onstage in his red wheelchair. Brown sang the first chorus of the song while standing, but he later chose to stand closer to his friend and longstanding musical inspiration.

“Can I have a chair, please?” In video footage of the momentous occasion, fans captured Brown’s voice.

As he listened to the live performance, Brown resumed his song from his seat, urging the applauding audience to join him in serenading Travis, who waved at the throng.

Brown has already used this song to express his gratitude for Travis; in fact, he sang it on the 2021 CMT Artists of the Year program, when Travis received the Artist of a Lifetime Award. When Brown performs “Three Wooden Crosses,” it’s always a full circle moment. In 2016, when the singer was still a relatively unknown performer, he performed the song on a radio show when Travis unexpectedly appeared and interrupted him in the middle of the song.

This summer, Brown is keeping himself occupied both on and off the road. He has a packed schedule of shows and is preparing for the September 9 release of his album Different Man.
