I find it hard to believe that Jamie Lee Curtis is sixty-six years old. What exactly is wrong with all of our favorite celebrities actually getting older?
I’m kidding, of course; growing older is perfectly OK. Nevertheless, I was really aback to discover how elderly Jamie Lee Curtis had become. She will always be that vivacious, energetic teenager that swept the movie business in 1978’s Halloween, in my opinion.
It is fair to say that Jamie Lee Curtis’s continued popularity now is a credit to both her acting prowess and her attractiveness. Curtis has more than held her own in an industry where the new is swiftly replacing the old and where even the smallest suggestion of deviating from the “IT” crowd is typically met with expulsion into insignificance.
Furthermore, the actress keeps adding accolades to her long list. Curtis won an Oscar for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, decades after making her debut in John Carpenter’s previously mentioned Halloween.
However, how exactly did Curtis land her big break? What is the current state of her life? How has she been able to maintain her prominence when countless of others have failed to achieve the same? Well, find out by reading on!
The career of Jamie Lee Curtis
Perhaps Jamie Lee Curtis’s destiny was to live a life of celebrity and wealth. Given that her mother, the late Janet Leigh, had portrayed the iconic character in Alfred Hitcock’s Psycho, she was born into a family with a strong history in show business. In contrast, her father Tony Curtis was a well-known figure in his own right, having starred in several Hollywood plays.
Curtis, who first studied law at the University of the Pacific before leaving to pursue her acting career, would also eventually take up the family trade.
Her big break, as it happened, came when she was chosen for a part in Halloween that would forever alter her life. She would go on to become renowned as the “Scream Queen” after that movie’s popularity, and her flexibility was demonstrated by her 1983 comic debut in Trading Places.
Jamie Lee Curtis has starred in a variety of films throughout the years and won numerous accolades, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Individual Life
The 66-year-old has demonstrated her skill as a children’s book author outside of the movie business, writing novels like Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born and Today I Feel Silly.
The actress has two adopted children with Christopher Guest, whom she married in 1984. Ruby Guest, Curtis’ youngest daughter, came out as transgender in 2021, strengthening her position as a staunch supporter of LGBTQ+ rights.
In 2022, while disguised as a character from the computer game World of Warcraft, Curtis performed at Ruby’s wedding to her lover, Kynthia. The actor, who has been sober for 25 years, is also an advocate for addiction recovery.
Today’s appearance
It should go without saying that, whether we like it or not, we all age and undergo changes in our looks. Even while many celebrities attempt to postpone the effects of aging by surgeries and treatments, it is no different for the biggest stars.
Even though Jamie Lee Curtis isn’t the young brunette who fought Michael Myers in the first Halloween movie, she isn’t attempting to cling stubbornly to her youth by posting a picture of herself on social media that doesn’t match her actual appearance.
“This word ‘anti-aging’ has to be struck,” she declared in 2022 while speaking at the Radically Reframing Aging Summit. I’m in favor of aging. I wish to age with wisdom, dignity, elegance, vigor, and vitality.
Curtis shared a selfie on Instagram that flaunted her legs after turning 65. More than just a style statement, her self-assured demeanor and choice of attire—black shorts—represented Curtis’ dedication to encouraging body positivity in people of all ages.
Cheers to you, Curtis, Jamie Lee!
