Adele was a big deal from the start, when her first record, 19, came out in 2008. The British singer-songwriter, whose full name is Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, continued to show how special she was for another ten years or so, with her amazing voice, her famous potty mouth, her impressive weight loss, and her stylish makeover.
She has won 15 Grammys, 18 Billboard Music Awards, an Oscar, and a Golden Globe. Her song “Rolling in the Deep” won her an Oscar. The soulful singer has gone through a lot in her life, like having her son Angelo in 2012, getting married to Angelo’s dad, Simon Konecki, in 2016, and then splitting up with him in 2019. She has also shown fans all over the world how her style has changed over the years.
The chart-topper is very private, but she has been body-positive since the beginning of her work. “I have never been unhappy with how I look or what I want to do with my life,” she told the Daily Mail in 2009. “My mother told me to never do anything for other people.”
She said that some of the early support she got was because of her normal weight. She told Vogue that same year, “Fans are encouraged that I’m not a size 0—that you don’t have to look a certain way to do well.”
Even so, Adele did lose weight before the birth of her son in October 2012, but she never lost her curves. And the feisty star was on another Vogue cover in 2016, a long time after she had won multiple silver awards. She told the magazine, “I was trying to get some stamina for my tour, so I lost a bit of weight.” The star was born in a rough working-class area of London. “Now I fit into normal, off-the-shelf clothes—which is a really big problem for me!” she joked that her new shopping habit was because she had lost weight.
Pete Geracimo, her personal trainer, told her that the focus in May 2020 would be on her health. “Getting really skinny was never the point when Adele and I first started our journey together.” It was about making her strong. “Especially after giving birth or surgery,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “When 25 came out and the tour was announced, we had to get ready for a 13-month schedule that was very hard.” At that point, she got used to working out and picked out better foods. She lost a lot of weight because of this, and people noticed.
