People with vision impairments struggle to move around in a busy, fast-paced society. Fortunately, these people’s lives have been greatly improved by technological innovation.
Visually impaired people can now employ the newest high-tech alternative offered to them by an Austrian firm called Tech-Innovation, in addition to a cane or a service dog that aids in their mobility.
When an obstruction is spotted, this company’s shoes with an integrated sensor vibrate or make a sound to notify those who are blind or visually impaired.
When an obstruction is detected at a minimum distance of half a meter and a maximum distance of four meters, the sensors in the device, called InnoMake, react. The sensor has a rechargeable battery that lasts up to a week before needing to be refilled, and it fits into a certain hole within the shoes. The battery can be fully charged in just three hours.
There is a free app included with the shoes and sensor. Through it, users may change a number of parameters, including how far away from objects they must be before receiving an alert.
The sensor’s makers considered what would happen in the event of rain or snow and designed it water-resistant. When a user chooses to use the intelligent mode, the sensor will deactivate when they sit down and reactivate when they move.
Customers can try on shoes at a number of stores in Austria before making a purchase.
This invention has the potential to change people’s lives.
