During this past weekend’s American Music Awards 50th Anniversary special, Jennifer Hudson enthralled the audience. Despite her usual amazing singing performance, it was her hairstyle that truly got everyone talking.
Even though it might seem odd that a celebrity’s new hairstyle would create such a commotion, Hudson’s appearance was unrelated to the event’s daring new hairstyle or color. Rather, admirers said they thought the 43-year-old singer had shaved her head entirely. We can attest that, despite what many social media users thought, Jennifer Hudson has not truly gone “bald,” even though we are positive that she would still look gorgeous.
Legendary performers Mariah Carey, Nelly, and Nile Rodgers performed on Sunday night (October 6) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the American Music Awards.
Fans’ confusion at the current performers’ lack of recognition during the ceremony fueled a lot of the conversation surrounding the event. The short answer is that the normal AMAs will now take place in March 2025, as previously scheduled. As the name suggests, Sunday’s ceremony was an anniversary special celebrating the awards’ 50 years of importance in the music industry.
The surprises didn’t stop there; Jennifer Hudson, 43, attracted a lot of attention for her attendance.
For the occasion, the Dreamgirls actress chose a glossy, figure-hugging gown that emphasized her physique and exuded elegance.
One of the most watched videos that night was the one in which Hudson introduced Mariah Carey to the AMA stage. Her appearance in the video infuriated social media users, who believed she had hacked off her hair.
On Instagram, someone wrote, “I didn’t think she went bald, even though she would look amazing.”
To the same message, another person replied, “Same.” But she does look good in it. If she ever does, that is.
“Me too! “I thought I was the only one haha until I saw the pony tail [sic],” said a third person.
What made me believe Miss Hudson was bearded? However, I think it would look fantastic,” a fourth user stated.
“Jen, I thought you went bald for a minute,” remarked a fifth individual.
One commenter said, “Thank God [..] she didn’t go bald.” “I thought she was rocking the bald look,” commented another commenter.
Fans may remember Hudson’s 2015 bald hairdo. In a picture she shared on Instagram at the time, the singer wrote, “Who needs hair when you’re serving face!” as the caption.
Recall that the high point of Hudson’s AMAs performance should have been her moving rendition of the classic ballad “I Will Always Love You,” which Whitney Houston made famous in the 1992 movie The Bodyguard.
Prior to her amazing performance, Hudson was questioned about her relationship with the late Whitney. “What do I have to do with Whitney Houston?” she asked. The gospel, or the presence, is a gift, in my opinion. I was young when it just happened to me. I think I’ve known Whitney for a very long time.
