Earlier this week, a video of the man destroying a guitar went viral.
It turns out that Taylor Swift did not sign the guitar that was purportedly hers, which went for $4,000 to a man who promptly broke it.
The Ellis County WildGame Dinner in Waxahachie, Texas, hosted a charity auction on September 28. The Ellis County WildGame Dinner defines itself as a group dedicated to “supporting agricultural and rural education to the youth of Ellis County,” according to their website page. The group posted on Facebook that they would be auctioning off a “guitar autographed by country music star Taylor Swift” as part of their fundraising event.

But after winning the instrument at the auction, a man is said to have ploughed it with a hammer after placing a $4,000 price. Online, videos showing the guitar’s devastation went extremely viral; earlier this week, one video that was shared on Twitter received over 22 million views.

Oh my god, no! Guy paid $4,000 for a signed Taylor Swift guitar at a live auction, only to trash it afterwards.
But now that a source connected to Swift’s goods company has verified to HuffPost that the guitar was not signed by the singer and was not an authentic, certified instrument she used, the story has become more complicated.
The insider also mentioned that Swift’s staff apparently doesn’t think the guitar up for auction has a certificate of authenticity, whereas a true signed guitar by Swift would.
According to Variety, the guitar was not signed, but it did come with a signed CD insert.

Social media users’ opinions on the man’s guitar purchase have been mixed. Some Swift fans have speculated that the singer’s actions could have been politically motivated in response to Swift’s open support of Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris.
One person on Twitter said, “A grown man paying $4,000 to destroy a guitar to impress Trump is next level pathetic.”
Another said, “Taylor Swift just lost $4,000 and it doesn’t affect him.”
Regarding Hurricane Helene, another user remarked, “Imagine spending $4k on a guitar when there’s literally an emergency situation on the east coast.” “Many other people could have benefited from that $4k instead of just one collector.”
The instrument didn’t appear real, according to several admirers.
One fan posted on Twitter, saying, “The funniest part is that this [is] definitely a fake signed guitar like it has the wrong Era’s Tour logo and font I’m crying.”
