Riley, the son of Tony Hawk, and Frances, the daughter of Kurt Cobain, welcomed their first child together.
Last night (September 28) around US time, the couple shared some adorable baby pictures on Instagram to announce the news.
Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s parents, Frances, posted a set of monochrome images showing Riley and her having welcomed a boy on September 17.
“Welcome to the world’s most beautiful son,” she said in the description. There is nothing we adore more than you.
Her godfather, former R.E.M frontman Michael Stipe, officiated the October 2023 wedding between the 32-year-old and the professional skateboarder.
Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk is the baby’s name, according to Frances, who also shared a photo of Riley cuddling their son.
And his legendary skateboarding grandfather added, “My favorite grandson!”
The baby is seen clutching his parents’ hands in additional photos.
And several of their well-known friends left kind comments for the family. Singer and late Cobain buddy Kim Gordon wrote: “Huge congratulations!”
Nick Simmons, a reality TV personality and writer for comic books, continued, saying, “Love you, Fran, and very pleased for you. The prophecy has come to pass.
Tallulah Willis, an actress and Bruce Willis’s daughter, wrote: “WE LOVE YOU tiny prince!!” What a lovely present for such unique parents. You are incredibly liked.
“With all the love and energy in the whole world,” Stipe added in the comments.
Kurt’s former Nirvana bandmate Dave Grohl’s daughter Harper Grohl also left a heartfelt and teary-eyed emoji comment while Zelda, the late Robin Williams’ daughter, wrote: “Ahhhh! Congratulations!
“This kid is gonna be SO awesome,” fans remarked in their comments, along with heartfelt congrats.
With a series of images posted to Instagram that looked back at the previous year, Frances first made it known that she was dating Riley back in 2022.
In one photo, the couple was pictured cuddling up by the ocean in a nearly mirror image next to Tony and his wife, Catherine Goodman.
Fans were ecstatic to see the couple at the time and predicted—predictively, as it turns out—that, “if they had a child, their grandparents would be two of the largest icons from the nineties.” Crazy.
As one person noted, “Daughter of the most nineties dude ever is dating the son of the second most nineties dude ever,” another referred to their union as “legitimately good news for humanity.”
