The guy on the NBA logo passed away yesterday at the age of 86, surrounded by his wife, it was confirmed.
Many have expressed admiration for West, who was a victor both inside and outside the court.
Additionally, Jordan, 61, texted Stephen A. Smith live to give his own remarks, First Take reported on X.
In place of MJ, Smith uttered, “I am so deeply saddened by the news of Jerry’s death.”
“He was a true teacher and friend.” like my older brother.
“I treasured our friendship and his knowledge.”
“I always wanted to play against him, but as I got to know him more, I realized that I really should have been on his team.”
“I enjoyed his basketball insights, and there were many similarities between our styles of play.”
“He will always be missed,” My sympathies go out to his son and Karen, his wife. May you rest in peace, Logo.
On a video of the homage, a fan commented, “Wow, that’s really nice of MJ.”
“The greatest general manager of all time was Jerry West.” The GOAT GM, without doubt. Another said, “Rest in peace, Jerry ‘The Logo’ West.”

The 56-year-old Smith also recalled an incident from when he first got to know West.
West overheard Smith suggesting that Jordan should replace him as the NBA’s logo while watching the analyst’s show.

“He called because he thought I would dismiss it,” Smith stated.
