Actor Robert De Niro recently made remarks on MSNBC’s “11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle” to which Elon Musk responded.
De Niro implied in the interview that pandemonium would result from former President Donald Trump’s return to office by drawing comparisons between him and infamous historical leaders Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
Musk refuted De Niro’s comparison on his social media site X, saying that Trump’s four years as president before that did not resemble the totalitarian governments of Mussolini or Hitler.
“Well, this makes no sense,” he said, pointing out that Trump had already served as president for four years and that his programs had nothing in common with Hitler’s. Musk also brought up the Abraham Accords, emphasizing how Trump’s actions deviated greatly from anything Hitler would have approved of.
Combat between De Niro and the Republicans
De Niro has been outspoken in his criticism of Trump, highlighting the threats he sees for the nation. He said, “I don’t understand it,” in response to those who asked him why some voters may think about voting for Trump once more. I don’t think they realize how hazardous it will be in the unlikely event that he is elected president. I doubt that they truly comprehend.
The actor also discussed the “banality of evil” and the entitlement he perceives in both Trump and his character, drawing comparisons between the president and his part as a villain in Martin Scorsese’s 2023 crime drama “Killer of the Flower Moon.”
De Niro has long been critical of Trump; during the 2018 Tony Awards, he notably expressed his disapproval by calling Trump names. His unwavering position betrays a deep-seated apprehension about Trump’s possible effects on the US.
